Colour liquid detergent missing from shelves

I was in Lidl this morning to stock up on the Formil liquid detergent that I normally buy. None on the shelves. When I asked one of the staff he said that they can't order it at the moment. My next stop was Sainsburys. Their own brand colour liquid detergent was also missing from the shelves. In both stores there was lots of powder and liquitabs. Is liquid detergent going out of fashion?

I have just looked online and there is small and mighty colour available but all the small and mighty is flagged up as new. Perhaps they are changing the bottles, sizes etc.
There was other colour washing liquid available but also a lot of washing gel which is something I have never come across before.0 -
The manufacturers are just moving to concentrated (gel) products in order to reduce packaging and transport-related carbon footprint.
Just look at the number of washes on the packaging rather than looking for big bottles.
Remember big-box powders? They disappeared for the same reason.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
I doubt that, it may be what they say but the subtext is they get to charge more for "new" products. I like the liquids having been converted when they were cheap but if they become unavailable then I shall return to powder, as apparently it has bleach in it whereas liquid doesn't.The manufacturers are just moving to concentrated (gel) products in order to reduce packaging and transport-related carbon footprint.0 -
I tried to buy some persil small and mighty colour online from Tesco the other week - Persil didn't have any colour varieties at all online (liquids or powder) and thought it odd at the time.0
