large plate straighteners - are they worth it?

I have just had another keratin treatment done today and am loving the poker straight hair but it is far too much hassle to maintain on a daily basis without the keratin treatment.

I use GHD's which are fab and have the normal and skinny ones but my hair is now quite long, very thick and coarse so takes forever to straighten. Are the wide plate straighteners much of a time saver and are there any brands anyone can recommend?

I don't want to be spending as much as I have previously on GHD's as I doubt my hair will the this long for a sustained period of time.

I've had my GHD 'professional' wide plate ones since 2002. They are worth every penny. I don't use them as often as I use to, much prefer the bed head look now, but they're still going strong and definitely a time saver.

Do you only have the large ones? I am wondering what they are like in comparison to the medium ones.

I have the skinny ones and although I could straighten my hair with them it would take loads more time than the medium ones and I am wondering how much quicker the large ones (of any brand) are in comparison with smaller plates.
