I have a Business Idea - what do I do?

I have an idea that may be of great use to advertisers on TV but how can I actually 'sell' it to someone without them pinching it first or saying that they already thought of it?

Have you thought of writing your idea down and dating it, then post yourself the letter using recorded or special delivery and keeping it sealed and safe when it arrives back to your house.
I don't know how it would stand up in a court of law if it ever came to it though?
