Question for Bank/CC Charge Refunders.

To all the people here who are currently trying to get their bank and credit card charges refunded;
Do the companies close your account(s) once you have taken these steps?
I understand that you may not wish to continue with them, but supposing that you still want to operate the account, is that possible? Or do the companies turn sour and 'take their bat home' because you have dared to take them on?
Cheers.

Hi Maharishi!
Some people's accounts have been closed but from what I inderstand this is usually due to people doing multiple claims ie. claiming one amount, then claiming another amount. It's advisable to set up a "parachute" account to have your salary paid into just in case but it is rare. Hope that helps a little bit - best of luck!0 -
Hello
I have claimed from HSBC - they did not close my account and I ahve also claimed from MBNA who also kept the account open but I agree with flower chops get another current account just in case they close the account on you.
It feel so good getting that refund
Congrats Flower chops I see in your sig you got full amount offered today.Lightbulb moment 10-06-06

Thanks for that guys. My main target would be CC companies. What about them? Do they tell you to get stuffed after a claim?
Thanks.0 -

I've had refunds from Bank of Scotland, MBNA, Capital One & Clydesdale Bank.
The only ones that were petty enough to spit the dummy & close my account were the Clydesdale, which does not suprise me even remotely as they've been scumbags throughout my entire financial relationship with them.0 -
Hi,
Have any of your credit cards had an increase in interest rate since everyone started claiming back charges??0 -
All mine have...0

Thanks to the resources & massive support available on the CAG site I just got all my bloke's charges refunded by the Halifax & the account's still open - left a tenner in there so there are still running costs to them but no activity to profit from.
It's a very empowering process really - am cracking on with the rest now as he's on a CCCS plan and this is carving chunks off the length of the term. :j
Lucy.
(And yes, the interest rate has gone up now that you ask! Just as well we're still fixed rate on the mortgage really!)0 -
