Should I sell my car to my wife

As you don't need the car for work, then the OR will not give you an allowance of £2k. OR will be looking to realise the market value.
That is not true all the time, neither myself or my wife work but we were still allowed the allowance of £2000 from the OR. We were given the allowance after my Dr intervened on our behalf. A relative helped us to buy the BI back.:pB&SC No. 298

The OP has to demonstrate that the car is a necessity, such as getting to work or a medical need. In your case it was a medical need, hence the £2k allowance.0
