Hi,
Basicly my ex is supposed to pay me child support for my 2 children which came to about £50 a week, he recently went on the sick (well last few months) and is now on ssp. He claims he cant afford to pay me anything now...which is understandable BUT he does gigs at the weekends and gets about £100 a time, so this could be £200 a week he gets. Now firstly he doesnt declare what he does and im pretty sure hes breaking some law being on ssp but still working elsewhere. How do i get him to pay me some of this money? the only way i can think of is to rat him out and then get child support agency on to him? but if i rat him out he will know its me and that will cause an explotion or 2! any ideas from anyone cause im low on money, scared to tackle him and also scared to rat him out! and if he has to pay the tax back it could be over £6k and he will still make out hes skint?

What tax are you talking about with regards to 6K arrears?
SSP comes from his employer. He's entitled to it for 28 weeks, and it could be as low as £89 per week. If he's been on it for months already, he won't be receiving it much longer, so you may be best waiting it out. I hate hearing of people like him who defraud their employers, or us the tax payers in situations where they are claiming false sickness such as he is.
Send a leaflet to his boss of where he is playing his next 'gig'.
Personally, I'd just go directly to the CSA and let them work out how much he should be paying, if he is the type of person you describe you are unlikely to get anywhere with him by simply asking him to support his kids.0 -
Well he doesnt declare what he does so whatever money he gets at a gig iis in cash and he doesnt pay any tax on it or anything, not sure how it works.0

Whatever you do as PHB and others will advise you, it won't guarantee that you recieve any CS from your ex soon
If he has not been paying tax (which we don't know) the tax man will have their cut long before CSA.
You should not be scared to put in a claim for CS, you are entitled to do that.
It does not matter that he is skint, once he is liable to contribute then the liability stays :cool:0
