How long does it take the CSA to pay you any money?

My nearly ex husband has apparently been working for the last month & the CSA contacted me to tell me that they would be dealing with it.

I wondered whether anyone could tell me roughly how long it takes as I really need the money atm?

I still need to buy the kid school uniforms needed & now the clutch has gone on my car.

I know how much he earn's £10.45 p/h for 37.5 hours = £391.87 & that he has to pay 15% of this but is that after or before tax?

Sorry i'm not really clued up on maintenance as in the 4 years we've been seperated he has never paid any.

Its the figure after tax they use for calculating maintenance.
As to when you will recieve the money all depends on if and when your ex partner pays the CSA. It goes to them first then they send it onto you. So if he is being awkward he might not pay and it could be months before you see any money if it needs to go to a DEO.
Could you not ask him for money direct if you are struggling?

Looking at the figures you will prolly get £40 per week plus agreed arrears, but as rampie's wife says, don't expect real soon, as 1) csa want to see 2 pay slips, 2) the schedule is then created and there is a couple of weeks to get the SO set up.
So I doubt you will see any in time to get uniforms in :o
  • And he gets several chances to provide the payslips...

I asked him today when he picked the kids up, as always he says he has no money.

It wouldn't normally be so bad but my daughter is starting comprehensive school so needs special clothes with badges on.

Its £40 plus just for a blazer.

It is starting to look like I might not be able to get the car fixed for a while then. :(

Do you not have 3 kids with him?

15% is for one child, if it was for 3 children then it's 25% of his net income.

We have 3 kids but he isn't the biological father of our 2 sons although they have his name & he has been their dad since they were 6 weeks old & 20 months old.

He thinks of them as his own & has them every other weekend along with our daughter but says he can't afford to pay for them as well anymore as his new gf has 2 kids too.

I think you will find that since GF has two kids, he is allowed to reduce his maintenance to yours.

Does the father of your older two not pay any CSA?

    No.

He gave up his job when he left me in July 1996 & I haven't seen or heard from him since.

I met my current ex in October 1996 & he accepted responsibility for my 2 young sons although he didn't adopt them we just changed their names.

It seems unfair that his gf having kids should effect my kids maintenance especially since she gets CSA for her kids & her ex is a doctor.

He still wants to be my 2 son's father he just doesn't want to pay for them.
