Basic bank account

Hi everyone
My OH has an appointment with cccs next week to finally sort out his debts and hopefully start a dmp, We keep our money separate and are not financially linked in any way. He has a credit card (£4500 owed) and is £3000 in his overdraft (amongst others) with his bank so I presume after reading all the info on here that he needs another bank account. Is this correct?
We were thinking for him to open a basic account (possibly Co op cashminder) Monday or should we wait til his cccs appointment to see what they advise.
Thanks

I can thoroughly recommend the Co-op Cashminder account. The only real difference is that you don't get a cheque book and there's no overdraft facility, which is perfect as far as I'm concerned:)0

I have a cashminder and it's a great account, i've been offered an upgrade to the privilege account but i'm happy with the cash minder so i'm going to stick with it, unless anyone can explain any reasons why i shouldn't. I know exactly where i am with my money, i don't want a cheque book and it provides me with a visa debit card.0

Coop were very quick to set up our cashminder account... the only slight issue i had was they issued my husbands card and pin but forgot to order mine, i just rang them and sorted it over the phone and recieved my card in about 5 days.0
