If you don't ask, you don't get

Hi

I just wanted to give anyone that read my last post an update that will shock all that replied as no one thought it would happen.

The story was that 3 months ago i signed up to a 12 month contract for virgin active for £65 a month for member, this was an impulse thing after separating with my wife. Anyway realised spending and getting into debt was going to help me move on in life.

I asked you guys if there was any chance of getting the contract cancelled due to not being able to afford it and the responses i received were less than positive.

Anyway I went ahead and wrote to Virgin Active explaining my situation and they very kindly canceled my membership within days with me having to make no more payments.

What i am trying to say is that things may look bad but they can always improve and even some big companies can take you by surprise. So if you are in a similar position you have nothing to lose in asking you may just get the help and answer you were looking for.

    Hi poorcop,

    I'm glad you got sorted. While I don't recall commenting on your individual circumstances, most forum members do try to provide honest, helpful advice. However, as you have said, it really can come down to an individual being successful. Other forum users should heed your advice and give it a go.
    If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

    I have read the other thread you refer to and i can only see genuine people giving genuine thoughts

    I know people were only giving genuine advice and trying to be helpful and i did appreciate it.

    I just posted this not as a pop at anyone or to try and big myself up, i just wanted to people to know that sometimes you can find big companies can be helpful if asked.

    I was in a position where as i said i didn't think i stood a chance of getting any support from them and this very nearly caused me not to bother writing to them.

    I just wanted to let people know that it is always worth giving it a go.

    Sometimes people's "advice" is based simply on what they think may happen and have no experience of such situations themselves, as turned out to be the case here. If you'd listened to some of the "advice" given, you wouldn't have acted and got the positive response you have. :beer:
