Discharge Query?

My DH and I were discharged from BR yesterday.

I have just spoken to Yorkshire Building Society whom we have a joint internet saver account with, that was opened a few years ago. It wasn't closed during BR, but it was restricted to branch use only and no use of the ATM's, DD's etc. At the time of BR I was told it was best to leave the account dormant and then once we were discharged we could have full use again.

Just rung them today and they have asked me to send in Certificates of Discharge from the Official Receiver before they can reinstate full use of the account.

What can I do. Does the OR issue this certificate? Does it cost to get it? I did say to them I could send a printout from the IS website to prove our discharge, but was told that wouldnt be sufficient.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Contact your OR and ask for a letter confirming your discharge, if they will not accept that, it would cost you approx £60 to get a discharge notice from your local court.

    Thanks Dojo

I will email the OR and ask for written confirmation.

Just one thought, as DH was passed to the RTLU, is it them I contact or the OR that dealt with us originally?

    Cheers :)

I emailed the OR and RTLU asking for a formal letter of discharge.

Received an email back this morning to say that the OR office have posted our discharge letters today and if we need a certificate, we would have to apply to the court at a charge of £60 each.

Hopefully the formal letter will be enough as evidence.

Usually most creditors etc will be happy with the letter from your receiver BUT if the odd one asks for the "official" cert it's £60 or free if on certain benefits
