I bank with Barclays and printed off the letter from the insolvency site with my date of discharge on it and took it to the bank to get my online banking back, but after 3 trips in and 3 weeks i went in again yesterday to be told its still on their system that i am bankrupt and it will be because i didnt send in the proper 'letter' apparently the woman kept saying to me its got to be the one from the bank which costs you £60...is this right, i have never heard of the £60 bit anywere.....i said 'but i have a letter which was sent to me which the court stamped surely this is the one'... reply was 'did you pay £60'..... me 'no', her....'well its not the one then', grrrrrr
All i want to do is check my balance online without going out for pittys sake lol

Hi bcljnk, Oh dear Barclays are being awkward!! They seem to want to be shown your Certificte of Discharge with does come with a charge of £60 from the court you went BR from (in some cases depending if you are on benefits you can have this for free as well).
Best wishes

yes our OR has said when discharged their is a fee for a proper court cert but he would be happy to wirte a formal letter, would that be good enough if your OR agrees to write in for you?0

Thanks for the replies, if the worst comes to the worst and they want me to pay £60 then i will simply take my original letter which was sent to me with the courts stamp on (better check i'm sure its stamped) to another bank, and if i manange to speak to someone and they allow me to open an account for both myself and my son Barclays will lose my custom end of lol
thankyou once again:D0 -
oh forgot to mention the account for my son, i made the appointment yesterday when i queried my online banking....went in today to be told unless i have the letter theres no point them trying to open a savings account for him as it will just come back that i am bankrupt:mad:0

Thats good news bcljnk.
We were only discharged a week ago, and I had rung up YBS about getting our internet saver account unfrozen. They asked for the certificate of discharge, which I cant afford to get.
So I emailed the OR and they have sent us each a formal letter stating our discharge date. Hopefully this should be enough evidence for future use !0
