I haven't bothered insuring my mobile in years. I paid £5 per month insurance for a couple of years and then tried to claim when my handset fell into a sink full of water. Surprise surprise water damage was excluded in the small print.
My sister tried to claim after losing her handset but because she didn't report it lost to the police within 24 hours - she though she might have left it in a client's house and didn't report it missing until after she had returned the following day to check - the insurance company refused to pay out.
There may be insurance out there that actually pays out for the sort of damage and loss that normal people experience but neither of our insurance did. Make sure you read the small print otherwise you'll be paying out for nothing.0 -
i got my insurance from cpw when i got my phone, have done for the last 3 years, mine is £12 a month, but there are two very good reasons why i pay it, firstly, i have broken/lost every phone i have had at least 3 times, and the 2nd reason is, i pay the £12 as it has a clause in the policy which allows me to get rid of my contract half way through for only the charge of the £30 excess, so i have a phone on a 2 year contract, and will be getting rid of it after 1 year, benefiting from the lower monthly rate as it is a 2 year contract, but keeping it for only 1 year and getting to get a new phone every christmas (i change around the 2nd week of december each year)0

Check your home contents insurance policy - you may be covered under that for your mobile phone and there's no point in paying twice!0

the insurance i pay for always paid out when i broke/lost my phones, but it too had water damage excluded, i think most policies do.
you could try checking with either your network for their insurance, or wherever you bought your phone.0 -
If you have house insurance you can add the devise as a possession but some insurers will not cover laptops and phones so check first. this is cheaper than taking out seperate insurance. my friend lost his phone and they would not pay out as he did not read the small print. also if you are a student you can take out student cover if living in halls of residence etc0

Thanks every one.Think I will check house insurance before I do anything.
