electronic water conditioners

The ****** are Electronic Water Conditioners which use very powerful low frequency signals, which effectively treat all conditions of water and flow rates. The transmit these signals asynchronously via an aerial to create a strong magnetic field, which has the effect of altering the formation of calcium carbonate crystals (limescale), so that they remain in suspension in small particles and do not form hard crystalline deposits inside pipes, boilers and domestic appliances. This magnetic effect will gradually erode existing limescale deposits, thereby increasing the flow and efficiency of plumbing systems.
Bl***y magnets again! They cure everything!!
So this does nothing for the quality of the water - it just prevents the formation of limescale?0 -

No, it 'conditions' the water too. But she ignored my request for an explanation of what 'conditioning' is, actually it was "what is the difference between softening and conditioning"?0 -

The article has this telling phrase:If a physical conditioner, obtained by mail-order, is tried then
it is suggested one keeps in mind the money-back offer the
purveyors make subject to dissatisfaction.
Are they trying to tell you something;)0 -

I inherited one of these when I bought my current house so don't fall into either of the above categories !
Being somewhat sceptical I have experimented with the unit turned on and off and can say that there is a (slight) difference ... as the .pdf above says it doesn't soften the water, but it does seem to slow down the formation of scale and is definitely noticeable in the length of time between kettle descalings being required.
Would I buy one though (if it hadn't come with the house) ... probably not !0 -

What I want to know is where does the limescale go?
When I look at my kettle and it's full of limescale I just think "that's the stuff I didn't drink"
But if I had one of these gadgets I would be looking at a clean kettle and thinking "No limescale, because I drank it"0 -

I look at my clean kettle and think "my water softener flushed all the limescale down the drain!"0 -

I'm being told to buy a water conditioner, and it doesn't get connected to the drain.
It does ensure the limescale goes down the toilet, but they won't tell me how it gets from the tap to the toilet.0 -
