I believe that as a promotion, Dyson are giving a 5yr guarantee with their hoovers whereas my old Hoover only came with a 1 yr guarantee. (This promotion is one reason why I'm thinking about getting a Dyson this time round.) I'm guessing that even if they give you the 5 yr guarantee you have to register it with them so that when you need to call them out it's all recorded.
I wonder how long this promotion is going to last. I guess they have to do something to get people buying their products again but 4 free extra years (on top of your standard 1 yr one) I think is generous.0 -
They will fix Dyson after the year is up anyhow. They replaced several parts of our Dyson which is 4 years old, inc new cyclone and motor, all done this year aslong as your regsiter your Dyson as I did 4 years ago, it didnt cost me nowt.0

I bought the extra cover from currys when I bought my Dyson six years ago!! I did need to use it 2 years ago but if only I had known Id have saved some money. Never buy extra guarantees now though, dont feel they are worth it!!If you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.0

I only had the basic guarantee with mine... called them recently because the hose split (after guarantee expired) and I couldn't find a replacement on their website, and they sent me a replacement for free anyway.:www: :: MFi3 ::

Thanks thomas
I am in dispute with a trader on Ebay concerning the provision of an allegedly new Dyson DC18 Allergy. The item supplied had obviously been used more extensively than implied by the advertisement and could be secondhand.
The trader stated "Register online at https://www.dyson.co.uk for five year warrantee"
Dyson inform me that although one can register if you need to use the guarantee you will need proof of the original purchase.
The only proof of sale I have is from Paypal and Dyson have not yet confirmed whether this would be acceptable proof of purchase. There is no invoice, receipt or delivery note from the trader as a record of the transaction.
Has anyone a copy of the five year guarantee?
Any clauses concerning production of documentation to prove purchase and if the guarantee is transferable if the product is sold within the guarantee period would be useful
The project could of course be an excellent database for Dyson direct sales - particularly as they will offer existing owners a discount on replacement purchases0
