Homemade Soup - How long does it last for?

Hi all!
I've started making homemade soup to take to work instead of buying those salt laden tins from the shop. I make a batch on Sunday and it lasts me two or three days.
What I want to know is how long do you think the soup lasts for? i.e. is it ok bottled up in the fridge for four or five days? I don't want to poison myself hahaha.
Hope you can help.

I usually keep mine for 2 days as well. Could you freeze it in portion sizes ready for work?0
-
I think it would keep for a couple of days in the fridge.0

Yeah, I'd say a couple of days. I freeze individual portions so I can just defrost what I want to eat.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I love homemade soup it's so much nicer than the horrendous chemical tasting tins isn't it? I made some on Sunday (usually do soup once a week) and there's about a bowl or two worth left in the fridge.. I will make sure it's eaten tonight, so that's about 2 day's.
Which soups are you making?0 -
Yes, freezing it is a good idea. Unfortunately I only have a small freezer compartment. I've mastered Vegetable soup gonna have a go at Tomato next!0

What I do is make enough for 5 portions on Sunday night, keep 3 (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) in the fridge and freeze the remaining 2. Then, on Wednesday night I take the 2 portions out of the freezer to defrost in the fridge. They are then Thursdays and Fridays portions!! So you don't need a lot of room! I've got a lush tommy soup I can post the recipe for!! :drool:Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

About half an hour in my house! :rotfl:
Should you need to keep it though, I'd say 3-4 days in the fridge for a tomatoey one, probably less (say 2 days) if it contains cream.. Either will freeze well. I use ziploc bags to save space (stand them in a container until frozen, then you can stick them wherever you can find space in the freezer).0 -
I love the ziplock bags idea!!!!! where do you get them from????0
