I didn't realise custom made could be so reasonable.

Or £155!!!!! In some case! :eek::eek::eek:Bump due 22nd September0 -
I've just done some alterations on bridal gowns for a bridal shop. Hemline, sides and lifting straps. That totalled around the £100 mark. That's almost the cost of a roll of silk.0

Wow, I thought they'd be loads more than that too.... Just assumed custom made wouldn't even be worth looking at because it would be too much.. this will be where I start to question the dress I've ordered! :undecided0

How long does it take you to make a bridal gown Linda? I know that there is no such thing as an average gown - but
just a rough estimate? I am constantly amazed by the creations on your facebook page - they are so lovely.Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -
Thought i'd mention the difference between custom made, made to measure, bespoke.
Bespoke clothing is traditionally cut from a pattern drafted from scratch for the customer. A design will be made and the pattern will be drafted to that specification.
Made to measure is a garment made to order from an adjusted block pattern. You may find a strapless gown and add straps to it. You may find a zip up back but want a corset closure. All that happens with made to measure is the basic pattern/style is adjusted to a clients specific needs.
Ready to wear, which is produced in a factory to a finished condition and standard sizes.0 -

If I was to work on a gown from start to finish and depending on complexity of the work involved, taking out waiting for clients to come for fittings, drafting pattern, cutting out, stitching together etc probably around 40 hours.
Yesterday I cut a MOB outfit(about 2 hours job cutting the pre purchased pattern the client gave me and fabric) Today it is stitched and waiting for fitting. Again approx 2 hours work.0 -
Your dresses look absolutely stunning Linda, and the prices are much more affordable than I had thought. I'm gutted I live so far away from you (Oxfordshire) as you would have been top of my list otherwise.0
