Mixed bean chilli
1 can value sweetcorn
1 can value tinned tomatoes
1 can value baked beans
1 can value kidney beans
1 cup tomato ketchup
1 can chick peas
1 onion
1 clove garlic
0.5 cup honey
3 tsp chill powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper
You can add chopped peppers if you like or leave it as it is. Just throw the lot in a slow cooker (I've always used slow cooker but you could use a saucepan on top of the cooker)
Sausage casserole
1 packet thick sausages
1 tin value tomatoes
1 tin value beans
dash worcestershire sauce
green and red pepper chopped
Brown the sausages and soften the peppers first. Then throw all the other ingredients in the pan and cook for 20 mins or so.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

I got this recipe off recipezaar and have tweaked it. Serves 2. Serve with rice:
Dhal
1 cup red lentils (any would do)
1.5 tbsp oil
1 onion
3 cloves garlic finely chopped
1 tsp gingerroot finely chopped
1/2 tsp tumeric
3 cups water
salt
(all spices below I added)
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp corriander
1/2 tsp cayenne (or to taste)
1/2 tsp garam marsala
2 dess sp plain yogurt (my addition)
Wash and drain lentils thoroughly
Fry garlic, ginger and onion in oil until onion is soft
add tumeric and stir
add lentils and fry for 2 mins
add water and simmer covered for 15 mins
add salt to taste and cook until the consistency is like porridge.
Stir in yogurt and serve.
Egg pasta
Cook some pasta and drain. The return pasta to saucepan and add in a whisked egg (and fried bacon pieces if the budget permits) and season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with parmasen.0 -
