New DCA tactic?

Ames

I keep getting phonecalls from a DCA about a debt that I'm pretty sure is unenforcible. But the DCA don't deal in writing, so I can't CCA them (or make a f&f, or do anything really). Do you think this is a new tactic? I haven't answered the security questions but it seems really strange to me, and could be a way for them to get around all the reasons we advise never to talk to them on the phone. I wonder how many people cave in and talk to them anyway as they feel they have no choice.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

How can they not deal in writing? That's really really weird.
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

Is this the 'we haven't got a leg to stand on' and we don't want to make ourselves look bad by writing anything brigade? They know that people can't challenge things said on the telephone and they probably have no case to back everything up. Maybe they can't be bothered to waste the cost of stationery and stamps when they know they are on shaky ground anyway?
Could be anybody trying their luck on the phone couldn't it - if they have a case then they should write to you.

Just done 1471, the caller withheld their number.

    I agree it's weird.

They don't seem to be getting bored though. They phone me daily for a while, leave it a few weeks, then start phoning again.

A stamp would be a lot cheaper for them!
