Toucan Claims

I've had a phone call today from toucan claims who believe I have had my limit to spend on my credit card put up illegally as they didn't ask my permission which is against the credit consumer act 1974. They can apparently get me some compensation for this, apparently people are being compensated on average £2500. They say that are government regulated by the ministry of justice and want a deposit of £250 and when I get the compensation they get 2% of it as their fee. I didn't pay any deposit and asked them too call back in a few days as I wanted to investigate this myself before handing any money over.
I know nothing about what they are talking about, but I don't really pay any attention to the news or panarama etc. Has anyone ever heard of them? Is this a scam to get £250 out of me?
Thanks for any advice

For 3 years, since I moved to this address I have been plagued by Toucan Claims asking for a Mrs Bolt, Boult, whatever. I have continually told them no one with this name at this address but they keep calling. What is more it is an international call and I cannot stop the number from calling. I only just managed to get the company name yesterday, the guy was called Jeremy.
How can I stop these 'nuisance' calls??????0 -
I had a call from these people today, the woman wouldn't let me get word in when I kept trying to tell her that I didn't want to speak to them and they could email me details. She kept on and on about how I could claim back insurance I had paid even though I had cancelled them years ago but I would need to speak to her agent who was waiting to take over the call. She said she didn't want any information from me but the supervisor was waiting to give me all the information I needed. When I tried pointing out how can they give me information without asking information she was just saying that he would give me all the information I needed. She then put me on hold and I put the phone down :-D reading these posts it does seem like it was a scam.0

Checking their website after the cold call did not reveal any clues to their authenticity, but alarm bells rang when they tried to get me to part with a £250 deposit on the telephone. They would then claim a 'minimum' of £1500 from my credit card company for 'illegally' increasing my credit limit. I pointed out that such a financial transaction over the telephone would be foolish, illegal without first receiving information in the post or email, and inappropriate of her to expect - a response she did not seem to understand. She said she would call back, and take the deposit when I had perused the website, as they could not send a contract in the post before they had received a deposit. This is backwards. Authentic or not, I avoid doing business which begins with a cold call.
In any case, cold calling is prohibited by the Ministry Of Justice if the claim requires legal action (i.e. they employ an outside solicitor).0 -
