    OK
Ive added all your outgoings and minused from your income. You should have 314 left over. However, I expect you dont.
Also you say you pay car insurance, but theres nothing on MOTs, pertrol, etc
    Or presents/ gifts/ Xmas/ anything like that

the 100 maintainence, is that for your house? Or a child?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • The maintenance is for my house!!!

My petrol, im very lucky, is paid for me by my company... its a family business and i have a petrol card i can use...as i dont use my car often i can fill it up when its needed ( i walk to work). I also work next door to a garage where i get my m.o.ts done at trade rate which is great AND as i do their typing free of charge for them they do any repairs to my car free, as long as i pay for any parts needed.

Hope this helps updat a bit, your all very helpful & i appreciate it!!

Was very scary when i finally sat down and added up all the figures and realised what i'd done.. but feel a bit better now i know im doing something about it!

Either cut your sky package down ...or totally out.
Cut back on the food bills big style - with some careful menu planning you can save pounds. (Try money saving old style board for ideas)
Check that your car/house/any other insurance is the cheapest you can get -
And a bit of a shocker...put the lodger (might be after you suggest this) rent up a touch :D

    I added these up:

    Mortgage: 500
    Council Tax: 127
    Electricity: 50
    Maintenance: 100
    Sky: 36
    Home Phone & Broadband: 40
    Home ins: 15
    TV License: 11

    Total: 879 plus 150 for food = £1029

So I would have thought that £600 probably only covers your partner's half of the bills, depending on how much you actually spend on food - it doesn't look to me as if he is giving you anything much extra.

Edited to say - obviously, what he contributes is between the two of you, but it is better to be realistic about the current situation.
  • Hi

  • I've spoken to my partner and hes more than happy to give me more money... but i dont want to just take from him.

Its my debt that I did so obviously i want to pay it back without taking money from him. But he has said that hes more than happy too. so maybe i will take him up on that, at least till im down to a more reasonable debt?!?!

Its hard, he always pays if we go anywhere and such but i guess, we know we want to be together and its our future we'd be sorting out - thats what he says. I think i'll just always see it as my debt that i ran up!

I agree. Plus if you consider the broadband is for the OH's work - I work out his contribution should be 534.5 - not much difference between that and £600.
  • loulouloulou,

Please could you post the APRs, credit limits and balances for your credit cards?

I see what you mean - it is your debt - but it's both your futures. I suppose it's getting the balance right.
  • My Virgin Credit card balance is 6950
    credit limit : 7000
    APR: 19.6%

    Halifax balance 8250
    Credit Limit: 9000
    APR: 22.6%

I currently have a £100 over draft which im not in at the moment, but just took some money i had saved out to clear my overdraft as i kept reaching the limit... it was £800.

I just spoke to my partner, we're going to chat tonight and he said hes more than willing to pay me more... we're going to go through all our finances together tonight!!
