What benefits are entitled when reaching 60?

Hi All
Apologies if this should not be in this forum (please advise).
My dad or I am very up to date with any type of benefits, anyway my dad turned 60 in April. My dad has worked in a factory all his life and will continue to do so until he retires (hopefully 65 unless the age changes).
Can someone please advise what benefits my dad is now entitled to for either free or discounted. We are aware about the bus pass and nhs prescriptions. Are there any other benefits we should be aware off?? what got me thinking was after listening to the PM talking about cutting pensioner fuel allowances. Am I right my dad would not be entitled to fuel allowance as he is working and not a pensioner?
Thanks

He is entitled to it - but he will have to claim it for next winter.
I get it and I am working and not yet a pensioner.
I am also better off than I have ever been in my whole life - which is a very good argument why this benefit should be given to fewer people or taxed.0 -
cvd - many thanks for the reply.
Just to clarify why will the fuel allowance have to be claimed for next winter? Just wondering as we have not reached this winter yet.0 -
If you go to 'For Who and Where You Are' - the section on 'over 50 money savers' you will find lots of answers to your query there.0

Thanks cesky369 - never scrolled down that far and was not aware.

If someone is on Pension Credit or State Pension then the winter fuel payment is paid automatically as dwp already have up to date contact details & bank details.
Someone who isn't on the above has to make the claim so that bank details are registered0 -
Free eye tests, senior railcard (costs £26 but then 1/3 off all train journeys), 10% off on Wednesdays at B&Q (ask them for a Diamond Card), Boots Health Club (10% off all Boots Products - including the opticians -on top of other offers and discounts,), cheaper admission to many attractions (ask and take proof of age).
Have a look at the over-t0s board, as Chesky has suggested, there is a long thread about it somewhere!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
