I'm not sure if this post is in the right place, forgive me if it isn't.
My partner keeps recieving letters from a company called ''The Lowell Group''. In these letters they are insisting she owes £1651.90 for a 3G Mobile account. The thing is she has never owned a 3G mobile account, she has only ever owned a T-mobile contarct phone which she is still currently using and has been for a few years. At first we ignored the letters assuming they are fake/fraudulant but they keep coming. We had another letter from a 'Hamptons Legal' saying she owed £500+ on a barcleys bank account even though she has a RBS account?
I have recieved one this morning saying they are going to apply to the courts for a CCJ?? I really need to know what to do about this, should we continue to ignore it? or is there someway we can deal with this because these debts aren't real.
If anyone can help i'd be very grateful, thanks.

Is it likely that she used to have accounts with either of these? I think they can chase you for payment up to quite a number of years after you've defaulted.
If she has never had any accounts with these people then i would be very worried that she is a victim of identity fraud.
Either way i think you need to ring them and talk to them and as far as i know they will have to give you the full details of these debts.MFW 2026 #50: £3,583.49/£25,00007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

Thank you for replying, but no she doesn't owe these debts, I would have been around if she had. Also her experian report is clean and clear and these letters have the logos at the bottom.0

they may be doing a random mailshot to every "Miss Jones" whithing 10 miles of where defaulting "Miss Jones" (a totally different person) used to live.
If she is sure she is not linked to theese debts, check credit reports, and if they show nothing either they have the wrong woman, let them send collectors, have ID to prove it is not her at the ready.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
I too have recently been hounded by Lowell and then by Hamptons for an account that I have no idea about. They are saying that I owe them £100 for a contract in 2005. They further went on to say in the conversation that for one day only I can get a half priced discount if I sort this out today. Yeah right!!! Sounds really dodgy to me. I now have to contact the police to see if it is some sort of Fraud. Are these companies legit?0

Rather than fraud its likely to be a case of mistake identity. I would respond with a prove it letter - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=11570893&postcount=2A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
