I Can't get my head round this, please help if you can....
I took out a career development loan from BPF, late last year.
At the end of Feb this year I lost my job, but started with a new employer in March.
As I couldn't make the March payment (due on the 15th March) I called BPF and asked if they could change the payment date to the 1st of April and all subsequent payment to be made on the 1st of the Month
I was told this would be ok but had to pay a admin fee of 20/25 quid.
I agreed to this and the payment came out of my account on the 1st
All I thought was well, till I recieved a call from Career Development Finance in May saying that the account had been passed to them.
When I called BPF to find out what was happening, the said the payment received on the 1st of April was for the April Payment and not March. They had also changed the direct debit back to the 15th so the May payment was late.. (Basically they are saying no payment was recieved in March or May)
So they passed it to Career Development Finance, who I have been paying since and the account is up to date. I Spoke to BPF before paying them to confirm this was correct.
However, I've been receiving letters from BPF, requesting payment of these 2 months. I've spoken to them and they say disregard the letters.
Since Sunday I've had calls (i've not been in but my wife has answered them) from Mercers, their debt collection agency.
I spoke to them tonight, they are adamant that I must cancel my standing order to Cdf and get them to transfer the money that I have already paid them??
Anyone had any similar problems
Who should I pay
I wish I could cancel the course and tell them to stick it but i'm sure it's not possible

Whilst Mercers are Barclays, i would seek confirm from barclays finance themselves on what to do now.
You asked for a change and paid for said change to take place, however they got it wrong and without even telling you pass your account to CDF.
Now without warning Mercers is asking for payment, whilst you are aware Mercers and Barclays are the same, you want confirmation for status of this account and who should be paid as you do not want to default on the agreement.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
