Thoughts on HSBC situation.

5/6 years or so ago HSBC gave me a variable loan, which i now realise was just a massive overdraft with a huge interest rate. I lost my job and couldn't afford the repayments and when i moved, they never updated my address, when i checked my credit score it said they were unable to locate me (or something to that effect)
I started sorting all my debts out a few months ago and have successfully settled 2 account, i'm on a payment plan for another. HSBC are the only ones who haven't contacted me, i called hsbc bank and was transferred through to metropolitan and was told the account hadn't reached them and to call back in a few days, i did this 3 times over 2 weeks and was told the same thing, the last person i spoke to said i would receive confirmation they had received the account. 3 weeks ago i sent full and final settlement offer letters to all 3 creditors, 2 accepted but HSBC haven't sent anything. I updated my address with them and gave them my phone number but have had no contact.
Do you think i should call again? Don't really no what to do for the best but just want it sorted.

Do you know how long ago you last made a payment towards this debt, before you acknowledged it in writing? Could it be statute barred?
If not, i would personally forget about them and just save some money that would be used to make payments towards them. Once they get in touch with you you could make a reduced full and final settlement offer - or wait until the debt became statute barred. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I'm not sure really maybe coming up to 6 years, certainly no more, until 3 weeks ago i guess, its not a massive amount, 2k out of 20k total debt so it wouldn't cripple me if i had to repay it. Good plan about putting the money aside, thanks for the advice xx0

Tbh unless you were very careful, you probably acknowledged the debt in writing when you offered them a f&f settlement. Anyways, I'm pretty sure statute barred doesn't work like normal if the creditor hadn't been kept up to date with your address.Sealed Pot Challenge #239

In Scotland, It's 5 years and in England 6. If the debt has not been enforced during that time and the debtor has not acknowledged the debt, by either making a payment or writing acknowledging the debt, then the debt is statute barred.
The creditor does not need the current address of the debtor to enforce the debt. They can go through the court and get a CCJ. Not being made aware of a change of address or failing to note it on their system does not give the creditor any leeway with this. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
