New, worried and looking for info please

Hello there, first of all sorry this may be a long one!

My daughter is now 9 years old, he father disappeared when i was 5 months pregnant and only recently reappeared via a social networking site, I spoke to the CSA when when my daughter was first born, they could not track him, when he appeared again I found out further information and they have now tracked him, he is refusing that he is her father and wants a DNA test, i am very worried he will try and fraud this is some way ( i know about the photo etc but im worried after 9 years he could look very different anyway!) also i have been told that after the dna his name must be placed on the birth cert, is this true?

Also the csa have said they will only make him back pay to when they traced him (July this year when they made contact) is they any way of this back pay going further? It has always been him on the run!

thanks in advance for any help

The back pay is from when the csa served valid notice to the nrp.
There are certain criteria where the csa can assume paternity, otherwise its the cellmark dna test.
After a positive dna test the fathers name does not have to appear on the birth certificate.

Agree with all that DUTR has said.

Most people get a DNA test done via their GP. They (as will you and your daughter) have to take 2 passport sized pics to the appointment and the GP will sign on the back confirming that the person named on the testing stuff is the person in the photo.

If they go to a GP on the list provided then they have to take the pics but also take some kind of other photo evidence of who they are such as a driving licence or they have to get the pics countersigned by someone that has known them in a professional manner such as a minister or lawyer (basically a load of runnin around when it is v much easier just to go to your GP).

So impossible to fraud them. Don't worry that he has changed in 9 years - they are not going to go on pic you have from the early 00's!!

Not all GPs will do it though. Our local one wouldn't. My H had to go to the hospital to have it done.

The name doesn't automatically get put on the birth certificate after a DNA test, but if he forms a relationship with his child and starts paying regular maintenance, then he may apply for Parental Responsibility and possibly get it in the future.
