Can I swear? Ummm....sorry.....I just want to say !!!! a lot, and cry. Just the usual, feel sick, everything is such a mess. I bet this sounds familiar? I know I should start by scanning the boards, getting all the information together but I can't get my head straight so I need to do that first.
Everything's a mess. Sorry, I'm going to ramble a bit. And probably repeat myself a lot. !!!!, !!!!, !!!!, !!!!, !!!!. Ummm....anyway. 18 grand bank loan, paying out over a grand a month in rent and mortage because we relocated last year but haven't been able to sell our house, lost my job 4 weeks ago so trying to go self employed because there's nothing else for me around here, I need a vehicle to do my job but vehicle one (a van) is in the garage needing a grands worth of repairs because it's so rotten that it should never have been given it's last MOT while vehicle 2 is in another garge awaiting payment of £250 for new break disks/pads etc which we've just discovered we don't have because there's not enough money left on husbands credit card, my credit card is locked (because I got the PIN wrong, although I've missed the last two repayments) and there's no money in the bank account because we've gone over our overdraft limit and HSBC likes to charge £25 a pop for the pleasure, so any more DD's that'll come out between now and when husband gets paid on the 28th will incur a £25 charge. Oh, and did I mention our rent is due on the 22nd and my daughters nursery fees are accumulating.
I don't know where to begin.
It's a mess.
Feel totally screwed.

Swear as much as you like. Can't offer much in the way of advice but you have my sympathy as a someone who is also struggling every day. If you need any general advice post a statement of affairs and let the clever people give you some pointers.
My car is either going to break down or kill me very soon and my phone has just broken, and i have £11 in my bank until next week! Good times

Husband rang and told me and I put on the smiley voice "yup, no problem, we'll sort something out" but I'm screaming inside. I can't even work out a statement of affairs right now because it's only just sinking in and my head's reeling. Have tried several times to sort things out over the past few years. The bank loan was supposed to consolidate things but it's just added to everything and makes it seem worse.0

Well on the plus side you can swear as much as you want and we cant hear you lallalalalala....
I just wanted to say you've taken the first step - well done. Its a horrible situation and most of us have been there. You will get sorted in time, it just doesnt all happen in 2 minutes, you have to be kind to yourself and you have each other. I went through lots of tissues when I had my light bulb moment and felt very stupid and low....we are only human.
My one comment would be (and is only my opinion) dont go self-employed at the moment. Sign on and look for/find a job.... The reason I say this is that unless you have an established list of customers I think it will be very difficult to make cash at the mo. A friend of mine does IT and was made redundant... the job centre actually advised him to go SE, he has had about 3 customers in 8 months and he has the costs etc of advertising.Light Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0 -

My type of self employment isn't a problem as there's a shortage of people around here to do the work I do. I've already completed several jobs that I need to produce reports for (and then send out the invoices
) and have another four jobs lined up. About three grands worth of work so far, There's no shortage of work - the problem is, is it's seasonal (I survey for bats - they hibernate over winter :P), so I'll have to find a job to see me through from October until April. 0 -
Hiya just wanted to say I have been feeling a lot like you at times over the last few months (even down to the "it's ok" hubby!) so well done for coming on here and swear away! Can you get a bar job or seasonal christmas work in a shop when the bats hibernate? Or join a temping agency? How old is your little one, could she just do the free sessions at nursery and you work around that?DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0

My advice would be to do the SOA - it sets everything out. Even if you have to estimate a bit it will let you see how things stand and people on here are great at showing you what you should tackle.
Really worth it so good luck.

Try the debt counsellors in Martins sticky at the top and if you've got a C.A.P centre near you www.capuk.org they would help out with food etc if that's a problem too.0
