Let me start by declaring an interest. This is a client of ours who we built the website for. I mailed a mod a while ago for permission as etiquette dictates but I didn't get a response so, I'm taking a chance thatthis will be OK. My apologies if it is out of order.
Anyhow, these people manufacture memory foam type products including mattresses, toppers, posture aids. They're pretty competetive anyway but if you fill in the survey on sleep patterns, you can get an extra 15% off

Once again, apologies if I am breaking rules here.

Thanks pychobel, I had been looking into getting a memory foam mattress, it seems Tempur is the main one advertised.
Do you know are they all pretty much the same? Is this one just as good?
Ill look into all. Thanks:beer:0 -

We travelled all over the place to try out memory foam mattresses, the cheaper ones are hard to find - relaxsan, waterlatex..etc... we decided that the Tempur ones were just so much better, and that as they were all expensive anyway, we preferred to spend a bit more to get the best one.
Also Tempur mattresses can be easily bought VAT free (so 17.5% off) if you have a bad back/ medical problem. You just fill in a very simple form to say that you have seen an osteopath, chiropractor or Doctor (no proof of this is needed), and that's that - 17.5% off.
We bought ours from http://www.backinaction.co.uk/tempurchoice who promise to beat any other quote. I found some cheaper on the web, and bartered the price down (got 2 free pillows thrown in too). They organised all the VAT-free thing, so it was very simple. All in all with the VAT off and the bartering it only came to about £200 more than the imitations.
I have to say it's great, and worth the extra! We went for the 25cm thick super king.Rhiannon of WoolamaiThanks!

Word of warning - 'You don't need to provide us with any proof, but you may need to do so to the VAT office if they select your sale as a random check'.

They sell a 7cm memory foam king size topper for £275 with a protective cover. I bought a 7cm memory foam king size topper with the same type of cover for £117.99 plus £10 postage off Ebay. I am very satisfied with it too. Just in comparison I think the Tempur one was around £900!!!!! Talk about throwing money at a brand name.

I have to say I love my memory foam mattress. It's not Tempur, but it's still great.
Rhiannon - what sheet do you use on your mattress? We have a 12" thick double, and a double sheet doesn't quite fit properly. I was worried about getting a kingsize because I know they're wider than a double, so the elastic bits at the corners may not be in the right place? We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

Our bed is a super king - so 6 foot across with the super thick 25cm mattress finding a sheet to fit is a little bit of a problem. We bought some from Next (the extra deep ones), and some from Dunhelm (also special super deep ones) which just work. The elastic is in the right place, but the sides only just cover the mattress and don't tuck underneath.Rhiannon of WoolamaiThanks!

I would fully endorse this.
It's not about brand as we tried quite a few different brands before deciding on the Tempur but for us the others were nowhere near as comfortable, but I have to say it took me a few weeks to get used to it but when on holiday for 2 weeks recently I really missed it!
We went for the 25cm King Size and at the time my husband was quite hesitant as he likes his electric blanket in the winter and they don't recommend using one with memory foam. However, we've found it can get quite warm when sleeping so I don't think this will be a problem.
We also bought ours from back in action who I have to say were extremely good and efficient and we also received 2 free pillows. We paid extra to upgrade to traditional pillows but moh doesn't like the pillow and neither does my son but I have a neck problem (didn't claim the VAT exemption) and I usually have to sleep with 2 pillows but not any more and I don't wake with the pain I used to.
Hope this helps you with your decision making.
Regards

Despite building the site, I can't claim to be an authority on Memory Foam, however had heard that there may have been issues with achieving UK certification for fire regulation with some brands. I'm being rather circumspect of course and I cannot be certain.
My understanding is that Restore Foam is just as good as any other brand.
Also, if you can claim VAT off Tempur with use of a declaration form, surely you can use the same form for discount off any similar product??0 -
I suffer from a chronic back condition & couldnt afford a tempur mattress.
A friend mentioned she'd bought one similar to tempur from here:
http://easydream.co.uk
I spoke to an advisor called paul & decided to purchase a double mattress
from them. Haggled for a bit & got £60 off plus free delivery.
Really happy with it & sleeping alot better.
....was a bit suprised when it arrived.....it was rolled up. Opened it up and
it slowly became bigger !!
If you try them ask for paul....he seems to have more clout & can get you a
discount.0
