Well the footer on the homepage has the surname Sutherland so although not all Sutherlands are related...
  • Its actually my wife's, and she's on the lookout for lots of new recruits. (no obligation to buy anymore books though so it is a really good deal);) ;)

Maybe you should try the Referrers board then.

    Oops just noticed you have!

Bit concerning that you have to send an email just to get more details about the offer? Couldn't you post more specific details on here? (or better still on the referrers board, given the family connection.)
  • I just put the original post on quickly in order to get something up as the offer is only on for a short time. So as I can't sleep here is a bit more info.

Usborne Books at Home every now and then do their introductory starter kit at half price, the last time was summer 2004. In the kit you get about a £100 worth of books and some stationery. Our children love the books and they are aged 3 and 22 months, although there is stuff suitable for most children upto early teens.

    Some of the titles include:

Princess Things to Make & Do
    First 100 Words Sticker Book
    Farmyard Tales Stencil Book
    Creepy-Crawlies lift-the-flap
    Elves and The Shoemaker
    Magical Animals CD Pack

There are 18 books in total. When you email for more information my wife will send you the complete list by return (it is as an A4 poster with more information on it) and will ask you to forward your details if you are interested so she can post out an agrement form.

When you join with Usborne you are under no obligation to buy any more books and there is no one phoning up and asking why you haven't done anything. Ultimately it is a business opportunity, which is why I have also included it in the referalls section, but if all you do is take the starter kit my wife will get nothing (except her line manager will be pleased with the number of recruits and maybe send her a sample book).

Like any sales work, if you decide to sell a few of the books then my wife will get some commission from your sales (I think it is about 3%). Remember there is no obligation to do anything else though, you can take the starter kit and run if you wish.

I have put this on as I thought some people might like the idea of cheap books without the catches that are involved with the likes of the Disney offers. I have used mse for a couple of months and felt it was time to put something back to say thank you for all the savings I have made.

You can see the product and more info if you want on

Give me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.
  • I have just sorted out a complete list of what is in the starter kit and my wife has emailed to her brother (who designs her websites), so hopefully that will be on fairly shortly. I am also trying to sort out an agreement form that can go on her website so it can be a quick download. My wife is also putting more information together to go on the site as well. The site has only be up for a couple of weeks, so is still been developed.
  • There is now a link up showing what is in the starter kit (with pictures of all the books and their prices on). My scanner isn't working properly, so it will be another couple of days before the agreement is online.
