Really need help....

Hi,

Got a bit of a complicated sitation here but I'll try and make it as brief as possible...

My mother unfortunately passed away in feburary of this year, and her estate is currently subject to a grant of probate. All the assets are frozen, and niether me, or my brother have access to anything, not that there is much for us to have access to anyway...

My brother is working abroad at the moment, and my father has also been living abroad for the last 8 years with his new family, so I am currently living alone.
I am living in my mother's home, I am unemployed and have just started my a-levels. I am 20 years old, btw.

I have applied for my colleges student hardship fund, but I really don't think that is going to be enough for my living costs, aswel as studying.

I have been told that I am not eligable for JSA, and pretty much any of the other benefits as I am classed as a full time student.

Can any body think any other benefits I might be entitled to, I am in real need of help....

Thank you

  • If either of your parents was in forces, police, medicine etc you may be eligible for grants from charities from these occupations.
There are many charities out there which may help re parent's occupation.
    Try Googling.

It's slightly complicated because of your age, but you should be able to get IS and ALG (which is like the adult equivilant of EMA)
