I was paying the monthly fee anyway so it definitely made sense to switch to the credit builders option for me as it cost me no more than what I already paid. I got the card prior to my bankruptcy and still have it now (discharged April 08).
Personally I would recommend it. There are some minor issues such as they don't make it easy to work out how to speak to an advisor etc away from their automated system but once you work it out, they are very helpful. I manage mine online and either top up at post office (free) or my local epay shop which does charge but money is on instantly if you need to use the card for a quick purchase.

Not sure what else to say really but if you can manage the fee, it's not going to do any harm? Since I did the credit rebuilder, the no longer charge me a monthly fee it a transaction fee.

  • Thanks magicgirl.

Ive succesfully applied for the card now and once I receive it, I will add the credit builder onto it.

Ive checked my credit files and unfortunately, I have 5 credit agreements still showing a default balance so its looking like I will have to clean up my credit file aswel!! :(

Was hoping it would be updated and clean but im afraid not!!!

    Hi
I have just applied for a card and been accepted also signed up for the credit builder. I have checked my credit file and had to do a bit of cleaning, a couple still say default but they have settled or satified next to £0 amount outstanding? does any one know if this is ok or should i push to have the dafault taken off?

    Thanks

I have a similar situation as you delcon, although some of my creditors are still actually showing a balance outstanding which is clearly incorrect as they were all included in my BR.

I would also like a few pointers as far as dealing with this is concerned.;)

    Hi
I definatly know you need to get the balances to zero, i copied a letter from the "Clean up you credit" stickey and sent it off to various companies. Also at the time i was having 30 day free trial from credit expert and they too sent letter off to said companies for question why balance still on account when bankrupt. worth a try.
    cheers

Hiya... I posted on this a couple of days ago... use the pro formas on the Sticky and keep at them, most of the banks played fair, but Santander are the biggest pain -they claim to have transferred the debt so the credit ref is nothing to do with them!

I'm on month 3 of the paid subscription to Experian, but worth it in the long term to get my credit files in order - then I know I can move on with my life!

    Good luck.
