We did this for DB for his birthday http://www.ulsterflyingclub.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46&Itemid=53
He really enjoyed it. The instructor guy was very nice and was happy to be a bit flexible about flying over somewhere special if you want it. Would recommend it, although it isn't cheap
edited to say I found this too re helicopter flights but have never tried it myself

There are four main options at Newtownards!
Helicopters - great if youre loaded
Cessna aircraft 2/4 seat aircraft not as expensive as helicopters but nearly £200/ hour
Fixed wing microlight 2 seat - looks like an aeroplane with a cockpit but much lighter & less than half the price/hour of a cessna
Flexiwing microlight 2 seat for the very adventurous, kite shaped, you're out in the open, a bit like a motorbike in the sky
All the above come with excellent instructors and are very safe, and great fun, Ive tried them all!0 -
My fantastic husband bought me a helicopter lesson for my birthday a couple of years ago. It was fantastic fun and something I could highly recommend. The flight experience was in Ards and I know they also offer tours in the choppers but not sure 100% about the planes. The day was so much fun we surprised my dad with the same thing and he had a ball.
Go for it - you won't regret it and the instructor in Ards was so helpful and friendly! :T0 -
Have no idea about price or anything but I know my hubby's gran went for a helicopter flight from Ards for her 80th birthday and was soooo impressed.0

Also look at the sea plane flights from St. Angelo in Enniskillen over Lough Erne. Fantastic experience. Takes off from the air strip lands in the lake, amphibious plane so it can taxi out of the water on to land, return to the water & take off again.
There are also helicopter flights from St. Angelo.
Great area to spend some time in.0 -
Used to be free years ago.... even put you up for the night...0
