Money Saving Phone Apps

OK so having an iPhone may not seem to be a good money saving idea, but mine is now on a PAYG contract so it's not costing me much. I thought it might be a good idea to suggest some apps that can help to save money - feel free to post suggestions including those for other types of phones.

Here's my suggestions:

1. Petrol Prices Pro - It's the same as the website http://www.petrolprices.com but handy to have with you in mobile format. This will find the cheapest petrol based on your current location, saves me around £5 a month as I do quite a high mileage. The app is £2.99 so I'd recommend using the website first for a while to see if the savings you'll make justify getting it. Also handy if you are in an area where there aren't many petrol stations and you are getting low on fuel!

2. Road Trip - this will keep a track of your spending on car related expenses, fuel, servicing etc and it also records your MPG. I find this handy as it makes me more aware of fuel consumption and as a result I drive more carefully and this has seen my MPG rise from around 50 MPG when I first got the app to nearly 60 MPG today - this saves me about £60 a month. The app is £2.99 but there is a "lite" version that is free.

3. Meter Readings - this will allow you to read your gas/electric/water meters whenever you like and tells you how much your bills are going to be. You're likely to save money if you read your meters regularly as you'll soon see how expensive certain appliances can be - I use this to budget more effectively during the year so that I don't get unexpected bills that can be a shock! Costs £1.19 although there are similar apps that are free so look around for those.

4. Tesco Clubcard - This isn't money saving as such but you can keep track of your Clubcard points etc using this free app and it saves you having to carry your card with you - I know I always lose mine!

5. Budget Planners - there's loads of these available for free, personally I use a spreadsheet but some may prefer a phone based app.

That's mine, anyone got any good suggestions to share?

I'll add suggestions below, thanks to anyone who contributes:

spendometer, it's free and you use it as a spending diary, excellent for keeping tabs on that odd newspaper/coffee etc.

None of those cant be done in other ways , to infer that you need an IPHONE to do them is laughable

You didn't! You were just kindly spending some of your own time to give a little free advice to people with iPhones. Unfortunately, some people don't read posts properly before they comment.
