I went to the Asda in Huyton this morning and they were on offer there.
They had 5 different types so i got 2 of each, i didn't see any mention of it finishing tonight

    Thanks for the tip.

So what the manager was saying to me was a load of rubbish then! I think they just hadn't bothered to adjust the pricing, so glad I perservered and got the deal anyway. :rotfl: Thanks for letting me know.

Cheeselady you should also know that the sausage mix and the burger mix need a lot of seasoning, particularly the sausage, which lends itself to some salt (a fair bit actually) and pepper and chilli powder. The burgermix not so much, just in case you end up cooking a big batch and it's yuck!

Oh thanks for that, I just bought the sausage mix this time round, plus the bolognese mix and the savoury mince. We had the bolognese mix last night, I used one packet for 3 of us, and put some chopped mushrooms in it to make it go further, added a bit of salt and pepper, and a bit of tomato puree, but still felt it was lacking something, anyone any ideas? Will also see if I can find some cheap parmesan to put on top as I think that would have helped as well. So it was a cheap meal, 50p for the mince, 75p for the mushrooms and the pasta was a pack that I got on the buy 1 get 3 free deal at Morrisons last week, so about 15p for the amount I used, that works out at approx 46p per serving. :)
  • That's a good value meal. I haven't bought those mixes before, I usually use Quorn if we are having a mince-y thing, might give them a try and see then. The would be good for Canneloni, I used to use the beanfeast for canneloni and it was fab for that, or lasagne?

I used to use Beanfeast many years ago, but don't think it exists now, have googled it and haven't seen it in supermarket's either. I used to use the American style one for making a potato casserole, loved it and was gutted when they discontinued it. :(

I'm not a big Quorn fan, just something weird about the taste of it, and prefer the soya, which you can also buy in dried form from health food shops but wish it was more readily available. A cottage pie is about the only dish I can eat with Quorn in, as the gravy covers the taste a bit, lol. You don't happen to have a Quorn recipe for a cottage pie do you? I always used to buy the ready made but wouldn't mind trying to make one myself for the whole family to eat.
  • Beanfeast is available from Sainsbury's. If you go to http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries/index.jsp and put in either of these product codes

Oh thanks for that, it's nice to know it's still out there, now all they need to do is bring back the American style one! ;)

I often see tortilla wraps, pitta breads, bread etc marked down in the bakery section of Mr S and Mr T.
They can be frozen if not going to be used straight away
Also, the Value fruit and veg at Sainsburys, the cheap weekly fruit and veg offers at Lidl and Aldis, are normally quite good.

Daft Q, who is Mr T?
