Creditors Refusing Offers form CCCS

Options
Hello again.

After seeking advice here a couple of weeks ago re my credit card debts I contacted the CCCS for assistance. I had given up on the CAB as I simply could not get an appointment there. They seem to be snowed under right now. (Sign of the times?)

Anyway, the CCCS were very helpful and initially, as I had little/ no disposable income, they suggested that I use the self help pack which they sent out via email. I followed all the instructions and printed off a set of forms for each of my creditors setting out my financial and personal circumstances and making a token offer of £1 per month each (as advised by the CCCS lady). I sent the forms off and waited...

The 5 companies all reacted differently;

Vanquis; We cannot accept that offer unless it comes through a 3rd (CCCS) party.

Sky Card: We accept the offer for 6 months providing that you make the payments before the 20th of the month.

Citicards; (who also recommended the CCCS), We are unable to accept you into a payment programme at this time. Please call to discuss a solution.

Aqua; Initially reused to accept but decided to accept for 3 months.

Mint; No acknowledgement as yet and default notice issued.

Now, because of the 'mixed' reactions to the self help forms, I recontacted the CCCS. The lady said that she would book me an appointment for Sep 25th but that even if they could subsequently get involved it would take a further 4 weeks or so to process the forms etc. This would obviously be around the end of October. Since I made the first contact, I have now had my employment (which was the problem in the 1st instance) confirmed for 1st week in November with payment 1st week in December. The rate for the job is sufficient that I can clear ALL the arrears from the first paycheck thus bringing to a halt any need for a payment plan. My question to you all is this;

How can I get the 'reluctant' CC companies to just hold on until I get paid? I cannot realistically pay them anything much in the meantime as I am not earning sausage - just sporadic here and there bits and pieces which have just about paid my priority bills (just).

Thanks in advance,

Kindest regards.

ps. The laughable thing here is that the largest creditor (Sky) who has claim to 5k is the one causing the least ripples...

    Send them token payments of £1 and ask them to place your account on hold till December, fully explaining the situation. Do this by letter imho.

    You can modify that letter there to suit your needs.

    You do however risk receiving default notices.
  • Thanks for that.

    Any other advice please anyone?

    Cheers.

    Make your token payments, not necessarily £1 but as much as you can realistically afford. It may be worth following your offers up with a letter as well. Wait paitently for the CCCS appointment and the amount of time it will take to set up and you'll be on your way. Have you tried Payplan?

    No - are they better than CCCS (or should I say faster)?

    It is really frustrating as I only need about 10 weeks grace now. You would think that they (CC) would hang on for that long if they are likely to get paid up to date?

    Any more suggestions?

    Thanks as always.
