Hi all,
I have my old wedding ring and engagement ring that I would like to sell. I know I would only get about half there value but that could still be £750 - and that could be a bit of saving for a deposit eventually (got to try and get something out of the bu*ger)
I have looked on ebay but thats flooded with rings at the moment. I tried the local pawnbrokers but the wedding ring they said I would probably only get scrap value for it and the diamonds and he had too many engagement rings in at the mo.
Does anyone know where I may be able to sell them?
Your knowledge and advice would be welcome please.

Hi Bluezone, I'm afraid second hand wedding rings don't have much value except as scrap. I got much more satifaction from throwing mine (to the then intended. He was too tight to buy me an engagement ring so he just bought me the wedding ring) at him when I discovered him with someone else.
As for your engagement ring, don't use ebay. Try small independent jewellers they also buy second hand jewellery and are always looking for diamonds. Make sure the ring is sparkling to get best price (someone on here will have a tip on cleaning up diamonds). Just a tip, when you go along don't go dressed up to the nines and don't wear make up. Had to do sell some jewellery a number of years ago to pay some bills and was given this tip by my then neighbour. Tell them how much of a b***** your ex was, I know its very underhand but they usually bump up the price.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. cheers. Luckily enough in jan I was helping a friend buy an engagement ring for his other half and popped into a fancy jewellers in Cambridge. ANyway I asked them what they could tell me about mine and they polished both up for me for free
- 3 weeks later I stopped wearing the rings so they are still sparkly!!!

Good. Let me know how you get on. Don't know Cambridge that well but there's bound to be loads of small independent jewellers about.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Hopefully someone reading this might be able to suggest a jewellers somewhere in your area that buys second hand jewellery. You normally find the best ones to sell to are in poorer areas or small villages. Sounds nuts I know but in my experience its true.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. shame you can't pop to London for the day and go to Hatton Garden - always got good value there, and there's an entire streetful of speciality jewellers0
-
thats not a bad idea - do you think they would be open on a sat as I have no leave left at work until jan😁0

Hatton Garden has many Jewish shops so Sunday might be better. Many Jewish shops are closed on Saturday, (Jewish Sabbath). I'd check by phoning before making a special journey.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

another tip if you do go - don't necessarily pick the poshest looking shops. Some of the best deals I've ever done have been in the poky little dives with no signs or bling in the window!0
