advice please? bad credit!!
just a question to ask strangers as i get too embarrassed and frustrated talking this over with loved ones.
i had a great record until about 3 years ago i went overdrawn by a couple of pence on my 'no overdraft' account and recieved charges from SHabbey national. it all pretty much went downhill with abbey, as i got into a really vicious circle of charges, every month i could expect to pay atleast £50 in charges. i finally got on top of it all, and closed my account, opening a new one with another high street branch, which i have managed successfully for the last 3 months. i believe i can get an upgrade from my card quite soon. the thing im writing for, is that i am in the process of wanting to buy a new car. i have been in my current employment for 9 months, and could sell my current car for just over a grand. i was discussing this with a girl at work, who looked up my credit rating for free and it came back poor. i was kind of expecting that in a way, but was just extremely gutted as it 'sealed it'. i have a twin sister who has credit cards and loans, yet i cant get either?
i have applied for some cards to boost my rating, but always get declined. i really want to get a good record. so in the future i can get a mortgage, which my boyfriend always brings up. has anyone on here been in this situation and come through it? i feel really useless because of this and it really depresses me, especially when i am out with my sister, who buys everything on her credit card?
sorry for the essay

And you think this is a good thing!piper5 wrote:especially when i am out with my sister, who buys everything on her credit card?
With regards to the "poor" rating of your score you need to look into this a bit deeper, a few missed payment / charges with your own bank are probably not even recorded on your file, so it is unlikely that this is causing your problem.
the main things you should look at are;
1) are you on the elector roll
2) have you got any other "credit" accounts at present
3) how have you maintained other accounts,. credit card, catalogues, phones Ect.
If you havent had much credit in the past this will also effect you, so a "sub-prime" credit card (Capital One, Aqua) with a nominal credit limit will help you if you manage it correctly, also things like Littlewoods accounts are relatively easy to obtain, and if managed carefully will quickly raise your "score":rolleyes: It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
im in a strange situation as i worked on holiday parks and met my partner through the job, who also worked on the holiday park i was at last year ive never left it, but have a full time job, away from the park. im on the electoral roll at my parents house in norfolk, and have had 2 phone contracts, as that is the business i am now in.:TThe places i have been so far: Palma, Tunis, Rome, Corsica, St.Raphael, Naples, Pompeii, Barcelona, Villefranche, Ajaccio, Livorno, Genoa, Madiera, Martinique, St Maartens, St Kitts, St Vincents, Dominica, Barbados, Antigua, Tortola, Jealous anyone????? :T0
