  • @ masterlumps FYI My animals are my children - they mean the world to me and my husband. I do find your comments insensitive, insulting, thoughtless and of very little use. Would you consider putting your kids up for auction? No? Thought not. What you suggest to me is no better than that.

The animal sanctuaries are packed to the rafters with pets that people 'can no longer afford'. I would never expect someone else to pick up the tab for my mistakes yet very many do without any other thought than to save their own sorry butts.

It's a good job we are all different.

Please don't offer me any more of your high handed advice.

What is the purpose of the additonal £40k, was it to cover existing debts, is it for a purchase?

I don't think being insulting is necessary and if you don't have any other advice you should keep your thoughts to yourself.

    That was not an insult.

  • oh dear. just to reiterate i did say i NEVER ment to be insulting, and it also was not me who initially suggested selling up, and it wasnt high handed advice, i just said i wouldnt have allowed our pets to feature in our financial decisions. again i did not mean for that to be insulting

however to go on and '@joey - thanks' when no advice was offered in their post other than to slate me is incredibly insulting

all i offered was advice, you chose to be defensive about your animals, which yes is your right, and if you are not willing to part with them that is your choice. me saying i would part with them in order to have a financially sound future was never ment to be an insult

Wow, it's a bit heated here!

Welcome to the site Jasmine Blossoms, and I hope you find a solution that works for you.

Rather than taking out another debt (the proposed loan), have you thought about posting a statement of affairs, to see if you (with constructive advice from other posters), can find a way of economising generally, and paying off your debts as they are now?

  • Actually Jay I am trying to sort it out this week without going further into debt. I am a might surprised by some of the sarcasm here - I came for advice and told that I should sell my home to pay the debt.

The annoying thing about all this is that we do have a fairly good income - the bank were smacking their lips at lending until we said we hadn't audited the figures. I do aim to pay back every penny of the debts - I just wanted to ease the burden of paying out so much at once.

Am I right in thinking that when doing a DMP it shows adversly on the credit reports? I have been trying to clean up the credit reports for a while and it is improving - I didn't really want to go back to square one.

Hi Zppp - just seen this.

yes it was to cover all of the existing debt - including car finance - which in itself is about 12£K.

I thought about leaving those off because they were a low rate of interest and finished in two years.

a DMP will indeed knacker your credit rating.

I am not at all convinced by your reasons for not auditing accounts. I am sure you can find a reputable accountant.

    Good luck with it Jasmine.

Most people on here (including masterlumps) have good intentions, I think he could have possibly worded his message a little better though.

What's acceptable to some people is not acceptable for others.

I really hope you get it sorted, and I'm sure with the advice of the great people on this forum, you will!! :)
