As long as you are sure that it has been more than six years since the last acknowledgement (by payment or in writing) of the debt, and it was never subject to a county court judgement, then that should be fine.

    There's a factsheet here:

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=25_liability_for_debts_and_the_limitation_act

There's a section in there about student loans too.

Are Mackenzie Hall the owners of the debt or are they working on behalf of another company , if they own the debt then send the statute barred letter, if they are working on behalf of someone else then ignore them , instead send a letter to the owner of the debt asking if Mackenzie Hall are working as their agent , enclose a copy of the letter from MH , if they reply that MH is in fact their agent then send the statute barred letter to them this will stop this going on a merry go round of debt collectors , send everything recorded delivery keep all replies safe , print your name , track and trace the letters you send with post office ,print off a copy of delivery date and signature ,

  • Ok will do, thanks again.
  • I've also come acorss another bit of confusion with regard to old debts, this one I am totally clueless about. I received a letter in the post today from a company called C.A.R.S (Creditlink Account Recovery Solutions Ltd) regarding a debt with Vanquis Bank Ltd. This one has me baffled, I have no idea about any credit with anyone called Vanquis, the name does ring a bell but I think that's just from seeing them come up online. CARS have offered a settlement offer, as I said before I want to clear any debts but firstly I need to know who on earth this is with. I have a debt with Aqua but I'm dealing directly with Aqua and this will be paid off shortly no problem.

Should I send the same letter as posted above to this CARS company?
