Does anyone use STP anymore? I don't hear anyone talking about it. I'm concerned that when they start paying out in $ instead of £ us Brits will be getting less! The ideas putting me off continuing to scout.

I used to but quit over a year ago when they changed the system which made it really hard to earn money for your effort, Spread which penalized you for being unlucky to have similar quality tracks in a row, made is so you could only earn vouchers to pay for band contracts and not real money untill you got to 3 or more stars.
People abuse the old system so they forced to change it but made it pointless. Before I has earning £5-£10 a day in 4-5 hrs working, not much I know but it was a consitant amount at the time, then when spread came in it made it difficult to earn anything.
If you want to listen to new music and maybe get a small amount of money then go for it, if you want to earn some money for your effort, don't bother. STP said the important thing was the quality of the review not the rating or % accuracy with other members. But I was consistanty writing 80+ word reviews and didn't make a blind bit of difference to my star rating, Totally unfair system as every member listens to music in a random order to everyone else, and you had to rate between 1-10 on a rolling 31 track scale to keep your spread happy. meaning a good band would get a low score cause they wasn't as good as some track you listened too a little earlier. And then because you rated them low and others rated higher because the order they got the track in you lost % and so star rating, alternativly you rated on a fixed scale and lost all your stars when you got a block of similar quality tracks.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -
I was a regular on Slice the Pie but I could never increase my star rating so gave up after six months. Didn't receive a penny.0

I stopped scouting months ago. I had about £80 quid's worth of vouchers in one of the artists who got financed (name escapes me at the moment..) and then the sales figures came out.
The whole exchange just tanked and I ended up selling the contracts for about £4 quid and that did it for me.
I think the death knell sounded when they readily accepted the mantle of a "money making website" rather than actually promote the music side of things and the idea of finding new, unsigned artists.
Martin Lewis plugging them didn't help either ..
The change to USD$ makes sense though - they want to break into the american market with new business partners and online gambling isn't allowed in the states as well, so that's why the exchange went and the USD$ payouts came in.
But in a weird sort of way, I hope they succeed in this current direction. If they can push away the people just there to take money and find a way to encourage more investment and get more artists financed then good luck to them.0
