References - have I given the correct one?

I am currently temping and finding my next job (either temp or permanent, which ever comes first). I have registered with an agency, and the form mentions about giving two names as referees.
I have worked in a few departments over the last few months:
Department A: 3 months
Department B: 1 month
Deparment C: 2 months (coming up to 3 months soon when September arrives)
I have provided referees from department A to the agency instead of department B & C as I worked in department A the longest, and they know me more, etc... Department A manger is better than department C.
Somtimes I help out in department A & B once in a while, if department C's workload is not a lot.
Did I do the right thing by providing referee details from department A? Or should I have just given contact details for Department C instead, as I am currently working at that department?
Your suggestions appreciated.

Yes i think you have done the best thing as dept a as like you say they know you more and you have offered to help out,
OT did you hear anything back re the interview0 -
I haven't heard back about being shortlisted.
I assume my application was unsucessful. I was thinking about calling them to see if it's a further delay or unsucessful - want to know the 'exact' answer. 0
