CSA Question

In 1996 I lodged a claim for CSA and was told the father had to pay 'Nil' this was also the case 4 years later then yesterday I got a cheque from them for £13.20 out of the blue. I rang them and it turns out they are now taking this sum from his JSA every fortnight

Since when have they been able to do this? Why have they not done this since 1996? Is it a new thing? Or can I claim some back pay too?

Thanks

You have had nothing for 14yrs, now you get something and still complaining?
Anyways it sounds like £3.20 maybe some sort of back pay, as the usual JSA deduction is £5 per week.

Deductions from JSA are now £6.20 per week so you have a fornight's worth there.

As for other questions, I would suggest you contact your case officer but I wouldn't hold my breath about back pay.

If it's not been taken at the time then it can't be given.

I'm not complaining just a little amused

Back in 1996 I was a single parent at college then university without two pennies to rub together so the money could have helped buy nappies, formula or help towards clothing etc... but now... :D
