How exactly do I cut off the runners? And where? If I just chop away, they won't have any roots. Will they just grow some if I plant them?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

When you have your length of runner lets say, you will see joint every 3 inches or so. Whilst its still attached to the plant. Plant this section (the joint) in the pot. with the rest of the runner still dangling out each end.
You can hold the runner in the pot with a opened out paperclip, gently push over the runner and into the soil, (like a staple)
Water and leave for a couple of weeks, from that joint roots will grow down into the pot.
The you cut off the runner either side of the pot and thus you have a new strawberry plant in a pot.
Hope that makes sense.
If you are going to use one of those strawberry planter with the holes in the side. Water Water and then water some more. They are very nice looking but a devil for drying out.0 -

Forgot to add, put a net over the one's in the pot. Strawberry / Fruit netting from Wilkinsons / Instore / Poundstretchers etc about £2.00.
Otherwise the birds will have them way before you get a look in.
If they are in a pot, these no need to peck it down it will cling / drape over the plants itself.0
