a very expensive youth

Hi guys, hope you can help, and this is my first post.::D

When i was young i got into a mess, credit cards-loans etc, Now i have a ccj and a default notice 3 years ago as i lost my job. I now have a fantastic job eraning 55,000 a year. I have now paid of CCJ and going to pay my Default of fully, but i now want a house and car but my credit score/rating is a mess. what i want to no is

1. when my default is fully paid will my score go up a lot, or gradually,

2. will the amount i earn now help the lenders decsion to lend

3. How high does your credit score need to be before you can be considered for home lending

    Hi Jonnie and welcome to the forum,

    The default and ccj being settled will certainly help you in getting credit. Regarding a Mortgage you would probably be offered one at the moment, but due to the past ccj and default it will probably cost you more in interest charges as you won't have as much freedom to get the best interest rates. Regarding your actual credit score, I believe it to vary from lender to lender, but with any credit in the current climate, they'll want to be sure you can pay it back.
    If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

    Been settled makes a little difference, but the real affect comes when they fall off. This is 6 years after the date the default/CCJ was placed on your credit file.
    Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

    Pay all bills on time , in time you will have a clean credit report , untill then get a savings account throw every spare penny you can into this , you will save enough for a deposit on a house , you will show a lender that you can be responsible , good luck .
