:j I LOVE Christmas!!
So far I have; bought presents/stocking fillers for my DD and DS, also for my niece and my sister. Have started getting bits for hampers for my sister and BIL and also my MIL & FIL. I have cards bought in the january sales, ditto wrapping paper and have arranged to have a big shopping day with my friend in October... This year I WILL have all my presents bought and wrapped by December 1st! Also plan to do Christmas cake in OctoberHappiness is not getting what you want - it's wanting what you have

This year's going to be a bit scary for us I think. Always being used to buying loads of expensive gifts but won't be able to do it this time around as OH out of work now and has been since last Oct. Weve managed to keep our heads above water and not draw attention to reducing income but I haven't planned as well as the posters above...any advice please?0

It's not too late to start planning ahead - 4 months is a heck of a long time and you could make up some lovely expensive looking hampers with home made jams, chutneys, and mince pies. The last of the summer sales are still on so take a look for bargain buys for presents - I got my sis some pj's for £9 down from £35 the other day and I'm putting this together with a 'breakfast in bed' hamper for her and her OH.
Keep an eye on this thread, I'm sure there'll be loads of brilliant ideas along the way.xHappiness is not getting what you want - it's wanting what you have

I'm also more organised for xmas then ever before. We've been saving £20 a week in a Skipton Xmas account, I've been buying savings stamps at the supermarket and I got loads of paper, cards and pressies in last years sales0

I'm now inspired to start planning and buying but I do find it hard bearing in mind we are still in August (summer)0

This is what I am doing at the moment/ plan to do-
Making up pickles and jams for hampers
Grow herbs in terracotta pots, wrapped round the pot with ribbon for part of the hampers
Make christmas cakes and wrap them in grease proof paper then with a ribbon, then into a nice cake tin as a present
Make cheesy biscuits for the tomato chutney
Source out boxes for these hampers
Pick up some nice mugs to fill with a hot chocolate sachet, mini marshmallows and a mini whisk to make those gift packs you get at christmas
put 3 muscari bulbs in little pretty glasses, grow them on slightly for pretty flower presents
collect seeds from the garden, place them in home made envelopes with some cheap teracotta pots and a cheap trowel to make nice gardening hampers
make up some sausage dogs for draught excluders and pretty carrier bag holders for the kitchen
Make my new great niece a teddy bear and her mum a nappy cake and a stress relief basket
Erm..... I think that's it! Phew LOLFeb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -

i have got approx £100 in my penny jar, and i think hampers are a great idea, only thing is , i have kids, age 23, 21, 18 and 17, they always give me a huge list of expensive requests, like ipads, iphones, designer clothes and jewellery, i mean , do they think i'm a millionairess? i always start getting worried near xmas, which is ridiculous what does everyone else do about this? this isnt what christmas is all about surely0
