GM Law Solicitors advice

Hi I have just received a letter from a company called GM law solicitor stating "we have been instructed to obatin a payment of £20.00, We are instructed to sue you. Upon suing you we will be claiming legal costs, court costs, accruing interest and the total debt."" ( yep £20.00 in total is the debt)

Firstly dont know what this relates to , has anyone ever heard of these before and any suggestions. I tried to call the telephone number but it states its busy.:j

    Hi

Not heard of them. But your first response should be to send the prove it letter - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=11570893&postcount=2 - , so that they actually prove if you owe any money and whether they have a legal right to collect it.

It sounds such a badly worded letter that it might be an out and out scam.

They have been instructed by who and what is the £20 for.

Send a prove it letter and forget about it.

(if you hear anymore report them)

If that is all the letter says, I would not do the 'prove it' letter just yet. I would just write back and say that their letter does not contain enough details to permit a meaningful response. Keep a copy of course.

Is GM money a credit card company? Perhaps GM law is their legal department.
