Triton Credit Services have been giving me the wrong balance on my loan....

Hi All
I unfortunately have a loan that was originally taken out with Natwest, but is now administered by Triton Credit Services as I am on a DMP.
I have been receving yearly statements from Natwest as well as the usual regular letters from Triton asking me to pay the full amount outstanding. The problem is the fact that the amount outstanding on these statements has always been different to the amount showing on the letters from Triton (i.e. nearly double the amount Triton have been quoting to me). I also checked my credit file and the outstanding amount showing is the higher amount that Natwest quote.
I have called Triton on numerous occasions and they have always maintained that the amount that they are quoting is the correct amount. I finally got to speak to someone in Natwest the other day, who also confirmed that the amount they quote is correct!
In an effort to sort this out once and for all, last week I wrote to Triton asking them to investigate, enclosing a copy of the entry on my credit report showing the higher amount outstanding. They have now written back to me and said that "due to a system error" they have been quoting me the settlement figure for the account and the amount due is in fact the higher amount.
I am extremely annoyed about this, for two years or so now I have been led to believe by Triton that I only owe c.£2500, when in fact I owe close to £5000. Every time I have called them and asked about the discrepancy, they were absolutely adamant that the amount they were quoting was correct. It also doesn't help that they are pretty much the most unpleasant company I have had to deal with whilst on my DMP and have been extremely difficult to negotiate with.
Does anyone think this is worthy of a complaint? If so, should I try going to Triton direct or to the FOS? I am very frustrated as this mistake has now put my DFD back by about 5 months

we had a debt with triton they are really tough to deal with, nasty too, are u doing yr own dmp, l would get payplan etc, to sort it.. We did a cca, it was a visa rbs, because they could not find original agreement, they could not enforce it, we saved £1300... which l would think it was charges and interest on only not the original sum... best wishes hope its sorted soon0

Thanks, they are a horrible bunch aren't they? My DMP is through the CCCS who have advised that I should write to Triton and complain. If I don't get anywhere with them, they have said I could give the financial ombudsman a try. Wish me luck!!0

Well a bit of progress on this one... I spoke to a lady in RBS/Natwest customer services who finally confirmed that the amount I owe is actually the £2500 number. Good news and I thought that was settled.... silly me.
Yesterday I received a letter from Triton telling me I owe them £800!! They truly are a shambles. I have referred it back to the lady in customer services, but if this continues I am considering contacting the financial ombudsman as I never know where I stand with this bunch.0
