Hello All
I am not sure if I am in the right bit here but hopefully someone can direct me if not
I am holding a small fundraiser/ party for my boyfriends birthday and for our local diabetes trust on 21st August (my bf is type 1 diabetic) and I was wondering whether anyone had any experience in this and how I can go about organising my time and cakes I can make in advance etc... I have booked the day before off work but don't want to leave it ALL to the day before if I can help it. I have invited about 40 people I think!!
Any suggestions as to games i.e. guess the weight of the cake, guess how many sweets in the jar (they are the only 2 I can think of) would be welcomed too!!
Thank you un advance! x:D

when I make cakes I always make the sponges/cupcakes the day before. I have also been told by a cake maker that you can store buttercream for up to 2 weeks in the fridge in a sealed containter although they had only done it for 5 days. I also know of people who freeze sponges/cupcakes then just defrost and decorate.
The best advice I can give is..... get help!!!! Also make sure you buy lots of ingredients so you dont suddenly realise you need to do a shop dash (as this is quite time consuming when your on a baking deadline).
Do you want your games to be cake related?
Will children be attending?0 -
We used to have a 'cake walk' at my primary school summer fete.

Our school used stepping stones circling a tree and placed cakes beside some of the stones rather than using numbers.
You can use a circle of chairs instead of numbers on the floor.0 -
Brilliant, thanks Giggle Fairy, I will be getting help don't worry!
Yep I am planning on getting the ingredients during the week before and keep lists!!
Games don't have to be cake related but want people to have to pay to enter!
Children will be attending too, but only a couple of babies I think as friends have just had!
Thanks LucyM, I will have a look at that link you have sent x0 -
I wonder if there is some kind of relevent game you could do? Maybe have a nurse teddy that they have to guess the name of? You just have a table with lots of different names written on, one of which is pre chosen then people pay to choose a name. If they choose the corrrect one thney win the teddy
.
With only 40 people coming you wouldnt want too many games and things to buy (ie cakes).
A raffle tends to go down the best I think, but this would envolve finding prizes.0
