hi, i'm currently in a debt management plan, and my account that i use is one that is nothing to do with any of the companies that i owe money to, as cccs advise. thats my santander account.
however i was recently writing to mint regarding my credit card, which i have defaulted on over a year ago, and is part of my dmp, i noticed that their address was royal bank of scotland. my partner has his current account with rbs, and he recently received a letter saying that santander have bought them out.
does that mean now that santander can take money out of my current account to give to rbs if its the same as mint? i'm panicing because my student loan will be in that account in a few weeks and if that is the case i will need to sort another account asap.
thanks in advance

Santander are not buying out rbs in full, they are just taking over the England branches (Scotland ones are staying rbs) so not sure what would be happening in relation to associated credit cards. If you are on an established dmp then they are not very likely to offset but will never say never with these companies so maybe open a new account elsewhere if you are worried.0

If in doubt, open a CashMinder basic account with the Co-op as they are not linked with any other bank - can be opened very quickly by telephone or in branch
Best be safe not sorry
