MRDL default notice (after full pament).

Just received a letter this morning telling me to pay up a sum of £52.68 as I have defaulted on the previous arrangement.
However this is not true as I have already paid off the full amount after agreeing to it over the phone. I paid the sum through faster payments and my bank records show it has gone through.
How can I get these parasites to stop harassing me further?

Hi mrdl, welcome to the boards. This is the reason you should NEVER agree to anything over the phone!! Always get it in writing then you have a record of proceedings. Write to them explaining that the debt has already been paid, and ask for proof that you still owe it. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along soon.0

Oh dear. Well I do have a receipt of payment from them also with my reference number. Should I call in first and ask for them to send me the proofs or has that to be in writing?0

No don't phone, always write, that way you have a record of what is being done/said.0

As is probably obvious the debt collection agency is Moorcroft. What should I write to them? I have reciepts of payments using their web system (one that goes through santander). Its really infuriating that MRDL trying to rob me of 50 odd quid when my debt was reduced for paying a lump sum.0

Hi,
write to them and say as agreed with xxx at xxx time on xxx day I have paid the sum of £xxx in full and final settlement. Please find attached a copy of my bank statement as proof.
I therefore dispute that the £52.68 charge should be applied and request that you remove it from my account. Please confirm that you have done so by return.
Or words to that effect. Can't guarantee it'll work cos as Marisco says you've got no proof that they agreed that would be a full and final settlement but it's worth a try.
Good luck and do everything in writing, with recorded delivery in future. I know its a pain but it can save a fortune in the long run.I'm a qualified accountant but please make sure you get expert advice as any opinion is made in a private capacity.
