The whole question about this is would I be committing fraud if I replaced my stolen MCS approved panels with non approved panels and still claimed the FIT. Can someone please point me towards a document where I can read the legal implications?
    Hi

As stated elsewhere in this thread you will need to use MCS equipment as that is a stipulation of the FiT tariff scheme. I'm not sure, but I'd guess that your existing documentation will describe the system which was fitted and this will be the system upon which FiT payments will be calculated and paid, I would also hazard a guess that any material change to the system installed would need to be registered.

If you need any information try the contact numbers on the Ofgen website FiT section ..... http://www.ofgem.gov.uk/Sustainability/Environment/fits/Pages/fits.aspx ..... alternatively contact your current registered FiT licensed supplier and check with them, list of numbers here ..... http://www.ofgem.gov.uk/SUSTAINABILITY/ENVIRONMENT/FITS/RFITLS/Pages/rfitls.aspx ....... whichever, as you (hopefully) have a crime number I'm sure that they will be able to assist.

You may find that your insurance company (hopefully insured) will be able to assist with the sourcing of the replacement panels and might actually insist that replacement is on a like-for-like basis.

How on earth did they manage to steal the panels without waking you? Were you away, or were they perhaps not roof-mounted? Are you in a crime-prone area, or perhaps in an isolated position?

The company that would have provided your FIT payments will have a small team dealing with the applications, and that team will be able to answer your question fully. I suggest you call them, and ask them what the precise requirements are so that you can be sure your 'new' system qualifies.
  • i would be more concerned at the moment with trying to find out who nicked them..

unless you are only trying to make a bit out of the insurance by buying cheaper panels than the original ones:rotfl:
